Hurricane Harvey is rapidly becoming more powerful, and has become a Category 3 hurricane. The National Hurricane Center estimated it will have winds of at least 111 mph by the time it hits the middle of the Texas. Highways filled with cars Thursday as people made their way north, while others cleared the shelves at Walmart as they prepare to ride out the storm.
Hurricane Harvey is not moving fast. A slower storm means more rain. The National Hurricane Center is expecting it to bring 15 to 25 inches of rain to the Texas coast, with isolated instances where rainfall totals could reach 35 inches. “Rainfall from Harvey will cause devastating flooding,” the center warned. The severity of this situation in Texas calls for proactive measures. “Texans believe in taking action and always being prepared in the event of an emergency,” Gov.
